Step-by-step- In a large bowl, combine yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chili powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, black pepper, mustard oil, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
- Add the fish cubes to the marinade, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably 2-4 hours for deeper flavor.
- Preheat your oven broiler to high, or prepare a grill for medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the marinated fish pieces onto skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
- Grill or broil the fish tikka for 8-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the fish is cooked through, flaky, and has slightly charred edges.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve hot with lemon wedges and a side of mint chutney or salad.

Storage & Freezer Guide
Make it last Refrigerator 3-4 days
Store cooked Tandoori Fish Tikka in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Freezer Up to 1 month
Freeze cooked and cooled fish tikka in a freezer-safe bag or container. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
Reheat Oven/Air Fryer/Microwave
Reheat gently in a preheated oven (150°C/300°F) for 10-15 minutes, an air fryer, or briefly in a microwave until warmed through. Avoid overcooking to prevent drying out.
Chef’s Corner
- For best results, marinate the fish for at least 2 hours. The longer the marination, the more flavor the fish will absorb.
- Ensure your fish pieces are uniform in size for even cooking. Overcrowding the skewers can lead to uneven cooking and steaming instead of grilling.
- If you don’t have a tandoor or grill, you can bake the fish tikka in an oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15-20 minutes, or pan-fry it until golden brown and cooked through.
