Storage & Freezer Guide

Make it last
Refrigerator 1-2 days

Store the tomato topping and toasted bread separately in airtight containers. The topping can become watery if left on the bread.

Freezer Not recommended

Assembled bruschetta does not freeze well due to the fresh tomato topping and toasted bread texture. Toasted bread slices can be frozen for up to 1 month, then thawed and refreshed in the oven.

Reheat Not applicable for assembled

If storing components separately, toast bread fresh and assemble just before serving. Leftover topping can be enjoyed cold or at room temperature.

Chef’s Corner

  • Use very ripe, high-quality tomatoes for the best flavor; heirloom or vine-ripened varieties are excellent choices.
  • Don’t skip rubbing the toasted bread with garlic; it imparts a subtle, essential flavor without being overpowering.
  • For an extra layer of flavor, lightly grill the baguette slices instead of toasting them in the oven.
  • Assemble the bruschetta just before serving to prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
